Low Carbs

So I decided to take my kryptonite and beat the hell out of it.

CARBS

Carbs are my kryptonite for sure. So I started researching exactly what it meant to go to a low carb diet. After some reading it didn't seem too bad! I could do this!!

Normally I ranged between 100-150 carbs a day when I was watching what I ate. This isn't a "bad" number but to really kick the carb addiction they suggest between 0-50. It seems impossible to do 0 (for me anyways so as a newbie my goal was to keep it below 50.

I started this past Tuesday...

Tuesday - 68 carbs

Wednesday - 65 carbs(Had a spaghetti dinner to attend but my awesome friend made me my very own low carb noodles!!)

Thursday - 32 carbs!!! Woot woot!

I'm very interested to see my weight after a full week. Since today was my official weigh in day (168 today!!) It will be next Friday.

What a week...

It all started Friday. We have all heard about it. The innocent lives lost Sandy Hook Elementary School. It hit me hard when it came out. My daughter is in Kindergarten. It is an unthinkable action...and we were forced to think of it.

I left work and picked my daughter up and hugged her as much as possible.

I did not go running the next morning. I did sign up- just didn't go.

I will be doing a 5k Virtual race with proceeds going to the Sandy Hook victims.

I still cry nearly every day over this tragedy.

Sadly, I had to let my daughter go back to school Monday. It was hard to say the least. However, she wasn't there for long. I had to go pick her up from school sick. I was more than happy to do it!! She stayed with Grandma the next two days and went back today.

And now..here it is Thursday. Doesn't seem like it has been a week since it happened. I am sick now, pushing through and still praying.

RUDOLPH RUN 2012

I wasn't going to do it but what the heck!! It is $20 registration and begging my mother to watch T for a little bit. So I'm breaking out my running shoes and charging up my watch! I want to do it in under 40! It will be cold though so I've never really run in the cold...I guess we shall see!!!

And this helps with my goal of a 3k every month for 12 months!!!

Getting my motivation back

Motivation is hard to get and definitely hard to keep. I have been unmotivated for about 2 months now. It is not fun.

I finally realized that my motivation ended when I put the scale up. I listened to everyone saying that the scale was evil. The devil. Not an accurate measure of your success. Then I realized that just like every health journey, every motivation is different.

I need my scale. I need to get on it once a week and see if there are changes. I mean, Weight Watchers has helped a lot of people and they weigh in every week. It can't be all bad right?

So tonight the scale is coming back out!!!

Turkey Trot Update (Finally!)

I know..it has been FOREVER!! I have been slacking on everything including running. But here it goes.

Turkey Trot 2012!!

First, I managed to get lost. Spragins Ave. is totally different from Spragins St. and my smart phone is too stupid to navigate to the one I needed. Thankfully I was not the only one relying on GPS and me and my little group finally navigated to the correct location.

Second, I had quit my job the day before the race and totally forgot to pick up my race packet. So running late because of getting lost and now rushing to get over to where they were handing them out.

Finally the whistle blows!

I decided to take a very slow pace and jog as long as I could. I am happy to say that I jogged almost the entire first mile!! I know...I really have to work on my stamina but in my defense it had been about 3 weeks since I had run. :(

Running a race without a buddy is really weird for me. I don't like it at all. I did, towards the end, keep pace with some guys and chatted from time to time with them.

The loop was also weird. You got to see all the really awesome runners come flying past you about to finish and then you have the anxiety of "what if I don't pass anyone when I make the loop?" aka - what if no one is slower then me? I did (thankfully) manage to go faster then a few people.

End of the race was uneventful. Done in 41.54 minutes.  I did it. I felt great! Where the hell is my beer?! Yeah..no beer. I guess drinking at 9 in the morning is looked down upon. And no bling. I knew that they weren't handing out bling prior to the race but I still missed it. I decided to keep my Bib though. I got my stuff I had left at the starting line and went home to get my grub on. Oh...and I stopped and got a beer on the way home.

REVIEW: When the package arrived T immediately put them on and started stomping....hard. My first reaction was to tell her not to stomp too hard for fear of damaging them. Over the next few days I realized that this little fuzzy slippers were tough! I have no fear of her Stompeez wearing out anytime before she grows out of them. They are very soft and comfortable. You win some, you lose some (toenails)

I am officially a runner!! I am losing my effing toenails. Ugh. NOT COOL!!!! But it won't stop me :) It totally freaks me out...seriously. It is gross. I mean...I'm a girl!! I'm suppose to have toenails! (Yes I know boys have them too but somehow it seems ok if they lose one)

I'll spare you any images of the nastiness...but trust me..it is nasty.

I wonder now if I get a discount on my pedicures since he only has to fancy up 9 of them? Possibly only 8....

*UPDATE*

Yesterday on the way home I got behind a runner...she had this bumper sticker on her car

I feel much better now :)

*WEEKEND UPDATE*

This weekend was absolutely crammed full of fun!! L had her oh so SPOOKTACULAR Halloween party and it was a blast!! Prepare for Instagram photo overload in 3....2....1....

Fun was had by all!!!!

Immediately following the little gremlins party I had a fundraising event with the W/ink256 girls! I wasn't able to stay late but we did raise over $500 in cash and goodies for our friends at the Humane Society!!!

This is the only picture of me from the fundraiser....half hidden by my friend giving hello kisses :) And yes, I smoke. And yes I know smoking sucks.

After all the preparation and partying on Saturday there wasn't really any time to run. I did however get 3 miles in on Sunday. I wanted to see how far I could go in 33 minutes. I went 2.66 miles. It just pisses me off because I always feel like I could have done better AFTER the fact. So why don't I do better?!?!? Ugh. Anyways I finished up the 3.1 miles in 38.26 minutes. Not too bad...over 6 minutes cut off from my first 5k race.

How is it Already Friday?!

*Sigh* I have no clue how the week goes by so fast.

L has her Spooktacular Halloween party tomorrow and I still have so much to do. Including cleaning my house. Ugh. Is it bad that I'm pretty much planning on "hiding" all my junk in my room and shutting the door?

I signed up for the 19th Annual Turkey Trot 5k yesterday!!! So before I shovel huge amounts of food into my face I will at least get in some exercise.

I'm running this one with some male friends (and hopefully some girl friends too) so I'm
going to try to push myself and get it to at least 33 minutes. That would be so awesome!!

I am also signing up for my very first half marathon!!!! So exciting!

Look at that bling!!! SWEET!!!!

13.1 miles...I.can.do.this.

I haven't run since Sunday :( I attempted to run and my shins held up but I got the worse leg cramp EVER!!! I thought I was going to cry! And ever since then I've been sore. I'm off work all this weekend though so I am going to give it another try.

Found my November Challenge!!

Thanks to 13.1 in 2013 sharing Run Eat Repeat's post I have found my own awesome November Challenge!!

Pile on the Miles 2012!!!

Per Run Eat Repeat....

Pile On The Miles is an annual event in blogland where we challenge ourselves to walk or run more during the month of November. The goal is to pile on extra miles not pounds during this food filled time of year!

I am attempting to go running today. Shins don't hurt that I can tell (I was seriously able to feel it just walking normally during the weekend) and I have got to start training for my Half marathon in February!!! <-----Yeah I found one in Alabama and want to sign up :)

Wish me luck!!

Fifty States HALF Marathon Club

I have decided to up my challenge. I was already planning on starting to do half marathons next year...so to add to the fun I want to do the 50 States club! I mean...it will take years...LOTS OF YEARS...but what a fun idea. And an awesome way to stay motivated.

I'm planning on my first one being in Lynchburg, TN.

How cool is that?!?!

So yes...one of my first official half marathons will be  April 6th!! I figure that gives me plenty of time to train. And maybe even find an Alabama one before then.

***WEEKEND UPDATE***

Pretty much did NOTHING. Worked Saturday and then had the phones the rest of the weekend.
Lula got her Halloween costume and had a blast at  her daddy's house.

I did try to run  and try out all my new goodies Sunday but was unable to even go a mile. Got to let myself heal.

Every runner, no matter what your level, has probably suffered from shin splints. I have got them before but never to this degree.

I was so discouraged and down about it Sunday but I know I have to just give it time.

But I did have a good weigh in day! Saturday morning I was at 164. :) At one point awhile ago I thought I got down to 160 but I really think my cheap scale just messed up. Lol. I used a digital scale this weekend (the one I have always used) and BAM!!! So excited. :) I started out at 185....so *drum roll*

                     21 pounds lost!!!

February will mark a year since I decided that enough was enough and started my weight loss journey. It has been an up and down crazy ride and it is not over by far but I know I have changed my life for good. I might still eat poorly sometimes, might not exercise as much as I should but I am AWARE of it now. That makes all the difference.

My Santa Muerte

A little information on Santa Muerte...

Saint of Death

It sounds morbid but she is really a good saint.

Just a little more and then some fill in and it will be all done!

My crazy life

I am pretty sure (ok I hope) that most people feel like I do. That every day brings something new and you never know what road your life will take you down and that you just have to hold on and just keep letting lead you where you need to be.

Reasons I started this blog:

1) I've had other blogs but they fizzled out. They focused on what ever I was focused on at the time and lets face it...I'm a fickle bitch. My interests change daily.

2) I'm an exhibitionist..I want to share every mundane story of my life with complete and not-so-complete strangers :)

Alrighty! Lets get to it!!

1) I have a mini me. 5 years old. Crazy like her mama.

2) I run!! LOVE running...for now.

3) I have tattoos. Lots of them.

4) I have a job. (It is a unfortunate necessity)

5) I date. (ugh) And no I will not be sharing intimate details of any of that...oh wait..that's because there ISN'T any intimate details!! (Double ugh)

6) I work on my volkswagon (69 Squareback) when I get a chance and I'm not spending money on       tattoos and vintage goodies.

7) I do volunteer work with a wonderful group of modified women. Just a small group hoping to rid the stigma that comes along with tattoos and piercings and help others out on the way.

8) I fight with weight control.  Been working on it for almost a year now. Still have a way to go.

9) I love all things pink. If it comes in pink I want 2!

10) I'm just trying to live my life and do it without ending up on too many shit lists. Do unto others.
